You would have received the code on the screen as well as by email. Can you please provide us with the email address that you used? Please email customer@metacert.com thanks

Have you purchased a subscription Nicholas? If you did you will have received a license code that can be used to unlock the service beyond the free trial period. This particular ticket is private so feel free to email us business@metacert.com or open up a ticket instead of making a suggestion.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Can you please confirm that you are enabling "Safe Browser" and not "just for Kids"? And can you please send a screen shot of the entire browser so we can see the URL?

Can you also please confirm that you have "Safe Browsing" enabled and not "Just for Kids"?

AdminPaul Walsh (Founder & CEO, MetaCert) commented  ·

Actually can you please take a screen shot of your entire browser as we are now unable to reproduce this? We'd like to see what the URL is. Is it blocking youtube.com ? that is, the domain and not just a link?

AdminPaul Walsh (Founder & CEO, MetaCert) commented  ·

This is a bug. We are working hard to fix this for people who are being blocked from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

AdminPaul Walsh (Founder & CEO, MetaCert) commented  ·

Can you please provide us with a screen shot of the warning page - include the entire browser. Many thanks..

    Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand what it is you dislike. Would you please provide a little more info? If you are saying we shouldn’t have a block page, that’s impossible to change because we don’t just have kids using our software. And it must be possible to dispute a blocked page in case it’s wrong.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Interesting. We didn't realize. Perhaps you could email me more information about your company and team size so we can better appreciate how it could benefit other customers? paul at metacert.com

What do you think the link should be classified as? It's a webcam site but there is no content. Thanks.

We've looked into this and it's missing from our list!! We have over 1,400 shortening services but not this one. Thanks so much. We'll add this early next week - hope that's not too far away. Please nudge me if it's not implemented by then paul@metacert.com

    Hi Steven,

If you give us the URLs we’ll take a look at them for classification. We have a URL submitter for pornography but not for “Malware & Phishing” – we’ll look into allowing this.

Martino, what link are you using?

    Thanks,
    Paul

AdminPaul Walsh (Founder & CEO, MetaCert) commented  ·

    Martino,

I think I figured it out. To submit you need to register your name with the email address if you haven't already used UserVoice for anything.

    Thanks,
    Paul

Thanks for your feedback Abdul. I agree that we should update the design soon. But if/when we update the design it will look nothing like Chrome or Dolphin – it’ll be 10x better! :)

    Cheers,
    Paul

Hi Neal, you make some really good points here. We'll take another look at the design of the settings as I agree, they are too big. They look great on some screens but if it doesn't look good on yours an other customers' we should change them.

Can you please tell me more about the YouTube video problem? I thought we fixed an issue with YouTube not playing videos. Perhaps it has been fixed since you posted this (oh man, back in Dec. How did I miss this?! Sorry!). Please check YouTube again and let me know if it's still not working.

As for "ON". It means the filter is on so that type of content selected should be filtered/blocked. We'll look at making this more obvious too.

Thanks for your feedback, it's very much appreciated. And I'm sorry for taking so long to comment on this.

    Hi there,

What setting do you have set on your Chrome extension? And what page do you get when you try to access the videos? If our extension is blocking anything you will see a block page.

    Warm regards,
    Paul

Hi Kate, perhaps you can send me some links to channels that are supposed to be available, or are available when Safe Browsing is disabled so we can look into it. You're right, it doesn't make sense so I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

    Thanks,
    Paul

We will update our Firefox extension to match that of our Chrome software as soon as we can – but it’s about one to months away.

Our Chrome extension does have much better security across image and video search. I’m afraid it’s not technically possible to stop people from uninstalling browser extensions in Chrome. But it is in Firefox so we will include that feature in an upcoming release.

Everything you ask for is included in our iPad browser so we are working hard to make these improvements across all our products.

    Dear Damiano,

I thought I replied to this so I'm sorry for taking so long to comment.

    1. You are right about the need for a password for our Firefox extension - this is on the list.

We don't believe in the K9 approach as it's an outdated keyword blocking and SafeSearch methodology. If you use our Chrome extension you will see that we enforce SafeSearch across image and video search engines - our FF extension will be updated to do the same.

Our iPad browser has the best controls - it blocks our 32 billion URLs, enforce SafeSearch across image/video search engines and it allows you to add whatever site you wish. It also blocks web proxies if you wish to block them so kids can't get around our software.

We are launching our iPhone browser and Android application soon. Our browser extensions are useful but mostly for young kids.

    Many thanks,
    Paul

@cloubu you are right. This is why our browser software is more suitable for young kids and adults (who want to block explicit content).

You could try using our DNS service which is more difficult for kids to disable. There is more info on our website and the service is free https://blog.metacert.com/metacert-dns-for-family-safety/

We will update our browser extensions soon but it’s technically very difficult if not impossible (for some browsers) to stop users from deleting or uninstalling extensions.

I agree. We'll add this to the list. Our icon on our iPad browser changes colour when you have Safe Browsing enabled so we'll do the same for our browser extensions.

    Thanks!
